The City of SPI is currently seeking a “Social Media/Communications Specialist” and a “Multimedia Specialist” for South Padre Island. Both jobs are full-time positions with a pay rate of $18.75 an hour.
The Social Media/Communications Specialist will have accountability for ensuring active and engaged content across social media platforms. This position works with objectives of a) contributing to content calendars, writing and managing day-to-day publishing, assisting with the planning and deployment of large-scale social media campaigns and engaging with tourism partners to ensure consistent and timely content is being developed; b) monitoring online conversations; and c) building engagement through direct interactions online to support destination branding converting to increased visitation. A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or related field is preferred. Two (2) years’ experience as a copywriter, with significant interactive social media experience, or any combination of experience and education, equivalency to be determined by employer.
The Multimedia Specialist will manage the day-to-day digital marketing management for the South Padre Island CVB. This position works with the objectives of a) assist in content creation to support destination branding converting to increased visitation; and b) providing creative support, content and marketing department support to CVB website and digital campaigns. The Multimedia Specialist will be responsible for creating engaging digital content and will assist in maintaining audio/visual equipment, boardroom and video streaming program. A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing or related field is preferred. Two (2) years’ experience in multimedia, or any combination of experience and education, equivalency to be determined by employer.
