1998 Cliffs Drilling 200

The Cliffs Drilling 200 traveling through the Brazos Santiago Pass of South Padre Island in 1998.

Originally built in 1979 by Trinity Beaumont of Beaumont, TX, this drilling jack up ship has gone through mutiple owners and name changes. It’s now called the Hercules 200 and flies the Liberia flag with a home port of Monrovia. Cliffs Drilling went bankrupt out of business in 2016. The rig is currently owned by Hercules Offshore out of Houston, TX.

Here is the list over the years of the ship’s various names:
The 200 until Nov. 2007
RBF 200 until Mar. 2003
Cliffs Drilling 200 until Aug. 2000
Southwestern 200 until Jun. 1997
Phoenix V until Jun. 1995
Viking Rig III until Feb. 1991
Sabine I until Nov. 1989
